coherent と consistent の違い

どちらも「一貫した」と訳されますが、coherent は部分同士がつながって筋が通ること、consistent は時間や場面を通じて矛盾なくぶれないこと。文章指導で並ぶ2大キーワードです。

consistent の土台はラテン語の「共に立つ」（cōnsistō）で、「崩れず立ち続ける」が核。coherent は「共にくっつく」を意味するラテン語の系統とされ、部分同士が接着しているイメージです。
