覚え方
古英語の bā þā（その二つとも） にさかのぼる語。「二つ」と指示の語が結びついた言い方が固まって、一語の both になった。
扱えるのは必ず二つまでで、三つ以上は all を使う。both books / both of the books のほか、both A and B（A も B も）と対で並べる形が基本。
否定と組むと部分否定になるのが要注意。Both of them didn't come. は「二人とも来なかった」ではなく「二人そろって来たわけではない」。全否定は Neither of them came. と言う。
