樹皮（タパ）が布のように見えるアジア原産の低木の木（カジノキ）。 ヨーロッパやアメリカでは日陰の木として栽培される。 雄花は垂れ下がった尾状花序で、雌花は壺型で、その後に小さな橙赤色の集合果ができる。
