覚え方
anem は「風」。風の花、という名で呼ばれた草がそのまま花の名になり、ラテン語 anemōnē を経て英語に入った。キンポウゲ科の「アネモネ」で、春先に鮮やかな花を開く。
風を表す部分は anemometer(風速計)と共通。anem を見たら風と押さえておけばよい。
海の sea anemone(イソギンチャク)は、触手が花びらのように広がる姿を陸のアネモネに見立てた呼び名。anemone とだけ言えば、文脈で花か海の生き物かが決まる。
