parietalの語源と覚え方
覚え方
ラテン語 parietālis（壁の）= pariēs（壁）+ -ālis（名詞から「〜に関する」形容詞を作る）。「壁に属する」がそのままの意味で、英語でも主に解剖学で使う。
体腔の内壁側を指して parietal pleura（壁側胸膜）、胃壁の parietal cells（壁細胞）、頭蓋では脳を囲む壁にあたる parietal bone（頭頂骨）と parietal lobe（頭頂葉）が代表例。
-al は「〜に関する」（national、central）という働き。pariēs は英語に単独では残らないので、parietal を見たら「壁側の・頭頂の」と直結させるのが早い。
