anatomyの語源と覚え方
覚え方
ana は「上へ・再び」、tom は「切る」。体を切り開いて構造を調べること、つまり「解剖学」。ラテン語 anatomia（身体の解剖）を経て入った。
tom の「切る」は atom（それ以上切れないもの＝原子）・epitome（切り取った要点）にも見える。切ることから構造へ、という流れを押さえる。
比喩でもよく使い、the anatomy of a crisis（危機の構造分析）のように「仕組みを分解して見せること」を指す。形容詞は anatomical。
