pharmacyの語源と覚え方
覚え方
pharma はギリシャ語 φαρμακεύω（薬を用いる）、cy は抽象名詞を作る語尾。薬を調合して用いる技そのものを指す φᾰρμᾰκείᾱ が出発点である。
技から、それを行う場所へ意味が移り、英語では「薬局」が中心になった。同時に「薬学・調剤術」という学問と技術の意味も残っている。
pharm を見たら、薬・調剤に関する語と判断すればよい。pharmacist（薬剤師）・pharmaceutical（製薬の）・pharmacology（薬理学）も同じ語族である。
