ギリシャ語の -εύω は、名詞が表す職業や状態に関する動詞を作る接尾辞。英語ではこの接尾辞そのものが一定の形で残るというより、そこから作られたギリシャ語や後代の語が取り入れられ、therapy（治療）、categorize（分類する）、hermeneutics（解釈学）のように、語幹ごとの形で現れる。
