dorsalの語源と覚え方
覚え方
ラテン語 dorsālis（背の）= dorsum（背中・尾根）+ -ālis（〜に関する）。英語でも dorsum（背面）+ -al という同じ組み立てで理解できる語である。
解剖学・生物学の術語で「背側の」。dorsal fin（背びれ）が最も目にする形で、腹側の ventral（腹側の）と対になる。dors- を見たら「背中側」と即断できるようにしておく。
補足: 音声学では「舌背の」の意味。イルカやサメの背びれの像と結びつけると定着しやすい。
