nodeの語源と覚え方
覚え方
ラテン語 nōdus（結び目）から。ひもが交わって固く締まった一点、というのが原義で、そこから「こぶ・節」の意味に広がった。
「線が集まる点」という捉え方が近代の学術語で生きた。ネットワークの節点、グラフの頂点、植物の茎の節、医学のリンパ節（lymph node）は、いずれも「何かが集まって結ばれる箇所」である。
小さな結び目が nodule（小結節）、形容詞は nodal（節の）。node を見たら「結び目＝線が集まる点」と読み替えれば、IT でも生物学でも意味が取れる。
