washbasin

washbasin は「洗面器」。wash（洗う）+ basin（水をためる器）。顔や手を洗うための器、洗面台。英国で普通の言い方で、米国では sink や washbowl と言うことが多い。 basin はラテン語系の語で、水をためる浅い器を指す。
