bore（穴をあける・退屈させる）+ -ed で「退屈した」。bore は「穴をあける」と「人をうんざりさせる」の両方を担う語で、同じところをじわじわ掘られ続ける感覚が重なる。
感情の形容詞は -ed が人、-ing が原因。I'm bored.（私は退屈している）／The lecture is boring.（その講義は退屈だ）。取り違えて I'm boring. と言うと「私はつまらない人間だ」になってしまう。
bored with / bored of（〜に飽きて）、bored stiff・bored to death（死ぬほど退屈で）。名詞は boredom（退屈）。
