announce（知らせる）+ -er（〜する人）。announce はラテン語 annūntiō（告げ知らせる）= ad-（〜へ）+ nūntiō（知らせる） から。nūntiō の元の nūntius は「使者」で、「人々へ知らせを届ける」が原義。
英語の announcer は駅・空港・スポーツ中継などで案内や実況をする人。日本語の「ニュースのアナウンサー」は英語では newscaster や news anchor が普通。名詞 announcement（発表・お知らせ）は社内連絡でも頻出。pronounce（はっきり言う→発音する）も同じ nounce の仲間。
