覚え方
anyway は any（どんな〜も）+ way（道・方法）。直訳すれば「どんな道でも」「どのような方法でも」で、そこから「いずれにせよ・とにかく」という、進む道を問わず結論へ向かう表現になった。
way の背後には、荷物を起点から目的地まで運ぶという意味の印欧祖語 *weǵʰ- がある。away（離れた場所へ）、always（いつでも）など、道や方向を感じさせる語と結びつけて、anyway は「道はどうでも、先へ進む」と覚えるとよい。
