reporterの語源と覚え方
覚え方
report（報告する・伝える）+ -er（〜する人）で「報告する人」、とくに「記者・レポーター」。
report の背後には *per-（通り抜ける・渡る）があり、「向こうの出来事をこちらへ運んでくる」が原義。portable・export・import・transport と同じ仲間で、port は「運ぶ」と読む。記者は現場の情報を運んでくる人、と考えると意味が定着する。
取材する記者が reporter、編集や論説を担うのは editor / columnist。カタカナの「レポーター」とほぼ同じ範囲で使える。
