覚え方
syn は「共に」、tax は「並べる・整える」。語を互いに整えて並べること、つまり「構文・統語法」を表す。語の意味が材料なら、syntax は材料を文へ組み上げる配置と関係の仕組みだ。
The dog chased the cat. と The cat chased the dog. は、使う語が同じでも、置く位置を替えると追う側が変わる。
コンピューター言語の syntax も記号や命令を正しく並べる規則で、syntax error はその並べ方に合わない書き方を指す。
