logic（正しい推論の学）+ -al（関係を表す形容詞を作る） で「論理に関する→筋道が通っている」。
学問としての「論理学の」から日常の「理にかなった・当然の」まで幅がある。a logical conclusion（当然の帰結）、the logical next step（自然な次の一手）のように、「そう考えるのが筋だ」という評価語として使うことが多い。
IT では physical（物理的な）の対義語で、実体ではなく仕組みの上での区分を指す（logical drive 論理ドライブ）。副詞は logically、否定は illogical。
