覚え方

古フランス語 logike（推論の技術）から英語に入った語。

「正しい推論を扱う学問」が中心で、そこから議論や行動の「筋道・理屈」そのものを指すようになり、さらに機械や回路の動作規則（logic circuit、logic board）まで広がった。

形容詞は logical、否定は illogical。同じ系統に dialogue・catalogue、-logy を持つ biology・psychology がある。
