all は「すべての・全く」を表し、対象を残らずひとまとめにする語。複数のものを「全部」、程度を表す語と組めば「完全に・全く」という意味になる。

「一つも残さず全部」という中心イメージから、all people（すべての人）・all day（一日中）・not at all（全く〜ない）のように使われる。ツリーではドイツ語 alle（すべての・あらゆる）も示されており、all を見たら『残らず全部』と覚えるとよい。
