覚え方
pro は「前へ」、ceed はラテン語 cēdō（行く）。事業や販売から前へ進み出てくるもの、つまり入ってくる金が proceeds＝「収益・売上金」である。
動詞 proceed（進む）の名詞用法で、つねに複数形で使うのが決まり。the proceeds of the sale（売却代金）・donate the proceeds to charity（収益を寄付する）のように用いる。
経費を差し引く前の入金総額を指すことが多く、差し引いた後の profit（純益）とは区別される。
