覚え方
produce（生み出す）+ -er（〜する人）。作物や製品を作る「生産者」と、映画・音楽・番組を取りまとめる「プロデューサー」の両方に使う。
経済では producer（生産者）と consumer（消費者）を対にし、producer price index（生産者物価指数）のように用いる。
関連語は product（製品）・production（生産）・productive（生産的な）。なお produce は動詞なら「生み出す」で後ろ強勢、名詞なら「農産物」で前強勢と、強勢の位置で品詞が変わる点に注意。
