覚え方
super は「越えて」、flu は「流れる」。器から越えてあふれ流れるほどある、という組み立てから「余分な・不必要な」を表す。必要な分はすでに満たし、その上にあふれている部分だ。
superfluous words は無駄な言葉、Further explanation is superfluous. なら「これ以上の説明は不要だ」。
fluid（流体）や influence と同じ「流れる」の仲間。足りないのではなく、多すぎて要らない側を指す語だと押さえよう。
