surrealisticの語源と覚え方
覚え方
sur-（上に・越えて）+ real（本物の・実際の） で surreal、つまり「現実を越えた」。そこに -istic（主義やその信奉者に関する形容詞を作る） が付いたのが surrealistic。
二十世紀初めの芸術運動シュルレアリスムの作風を指す語で、夢のように脈絡がなく、それでいて妙に生々しい感じを表す。日常でも「現実とは思えない」場面の描写に使う。
sur- は surpass（越えて進む）、surplus（余り）、surface（面の上）と同じ部品。-istic は realistic・artistic と同じく、-ism に対応する形容詞を作る語尾。
