覚え方
ラテン語 tonus「張り・音の調子」から。弦をぴんと張ると決まった高さの音が出る、という「張りで決まる音の調子」が核。そこから、調子のそろった音の並び＝「メロディー」になり、動詞では音の高さを合わせて「調整する」になった。
tune a guitar（ギターを調律する）から、tune up（調子を整える）、tune in（周波数を合わせる）、fine-tune（微調整する）へ広がり、機械や計画の「調整」にも使う。
tone（音の調子）も同じ tonus を持つ。tune は「張りを加減して音を合わせる」と覚えるとよい。
