覚え方
ラテン語 assūmō（取り入れる・引き受ける）= ad-（〜へ）+ sūmō（取り上げる）。「自分の方へ取り込む」が原義で、仕事なら「引き受ける」、考えなら「（真実として）取り込む→仮定する・思い込む」になった。
sūmō の語根 *h₁em-（取る）は consume（取り尽くす→消費する）・resume（再び取る→再開する）・presume（先に取る→推定する）と同じ。sume を見たら「取る」、接頭辞で取り方を読むのがコツ。
