覚え方
古英語 ofer（上に・越えて）が原義で、英語 over の基本イメージは「何かを越えて上を通る」ことである。
「物事の上を通り過ぎる」イメージから、時間的には「過ぎ去った→終わった」、数量的には「超えている→以上」という意味に広がった。
