reason1の語源と覚え方
覚え方
ラテン語 ratiō（理由・計算・合理的な方法）は、reor（考える・判断する）+ -tiō（動作・過程・結果を表す名詞語尾）から、「考えた結果」や「筋道だった計算」を表した。そこから、物事を説明する「理由・原因」や、筋道立てて考える「理性」へ発展した。
reor のもとにある *h₂reh₁-（考える・整理する）は、情報を整理して判断するイメージ。ratio（比率・割合）・rational（合理的な）・reasoning（推論）と結びつけ、reason は頭の中で事情を整理して出した説明と覚えるとよい。
