覚え方
中英語 demaunden（尋ねる・求める）を経て、ラテン語 dēmandō（委ねる・任せる）にさかのぼる。もとは「相手の手にすっかり託す」こと。
フランス語で「尋ねる・求める」となり、英語ではさらに強まって「（当然の権利として）要求する」になった。名詞では「需要」で、supply and demand（需要と供給）。in demand は「求められている＝人気がある」、on demand は「要求があり次第」。
