覚え方
ラテン語 integrō（元通りにする・修復する）は integer（完全な・無傷の）から。その integer 自体が「触れる（*teh₂g-）」＋ 打ち消しの *n̥-、つまり「手を付けられていない＝欠けがない」。-ate はラテン語系の動詞語尾。
「欠けた状態を埋めて完全な一つに戻す」が原義なので、integrate は「ばらばらの部分を一つの全体にする」。システムの統合も、社会的な統合（差別の撤廃）も、この「一つに戻す」から出ている。
同じ integer から entire（丸ごとの）・integrity（完全性・高潔さ）・integer（整数）。integr- を見たら「欠けがない」。
