覚え方
revolve はラテン語 revolvō（巻き戻す・裏返す・熟考する）から来た。re-（後ろへ・再び）+ volvō（転がす・回す）で、何かをもう一度回したり、巻き戻したりするイメージである。
物体が同じ軌道を繰り返し回ることから、「回転する・公転する」という意味になった。話題や考えを何度も同じ中心に戻す場合にも、revolve around（～を中心に展開する）と表現できる。
volvō の *welH-（転がる・波打つ）から、voluminous（巻き込まれて大きくなった→大量の）や evolution（展開して進む）などが連想できる。volv・volve を見たら「転がって回る」、re- はその回転が繰り返される感覚と結びつけよう。
