覚え方
tie は、古英語 tīġan（結ぶ・縛る）から続く動詞。ひもを交差させ、引いて結び目を作る動作が中心にある。tie your shoes は「靴ひもを結ぶ」、tie a ribbon は「リボンを結ぶ」。単に物を近づけるのでなく、ひもなどで離れない状態にするところまで思い描くと意味が定着する。
