concentrate（一点に集める・濃くする）+ -ion。concentrate は con-（共に）+ centre（中心）+ -ate（動詞を作る） で、「ばらばらのものを中心へ寄せる」。
心を一点に寄せれば「集中（力）」、物質を寄せて濃くすれば「濃度・濃縮」。lose concentration（集中を切らす）、a high concentration of salt（高い塩分濃度）。
centre の一族なので 「中心へ集める」が芯。concentric（同心の）・eccentric（中心から外れた）と並べると、中心との距離感でつかめる。
