覚え方
ラテン語 reclāmātiō（抗議・異議）（reclāmō（叫んで抗議する）+ -tiō）の系統で、英語では reclaim + -ation と読める形。ラテン語では「声を上げて異議を唱えること」だった。
英語では reclaim の「取り戻す」意味を受けて、失われたものを使える状態に戻すことが中心。land reclamation（土地の埋め立て・干拓）、water reclamation（水の再生）、reclamation of materials（資源の回収）のように、土木・環境の文脈で頻出する。
*kelh₁-（呼びかける） から出た claim・exclaim・proclaim と同族。「返せと呼び戻す」→「回収・再生」という流れをつかんでおくと、抗議の意味しかないラテン語との差もつながる。
