覚え方
re-（再び）+ construction（建てること・建造物） で「再建・復元」。壊れた建物を建て直すことと、失われた出来事を組み立て直して「再現」することの両方を指す。
construction の背後には kom-（共に）+ strew-（まき広げる） があり、「材料を並べ広げて積み上げる」が原義。そこに *wre-（再び） が乗るので、「積み直す」**が芯。the reconstruction of the crime scene（犯行現場の再現）のように、証拠から筋道を組み直す意味でもよく使う。
*strew- の仲間には structure（組み立て）・instruct（積み上げて教える）・destroy（積んだものを崩す）がいる。歴史用語では、南北戦争後の米国の再建期を the Reconstruction と大文字で呼ぶ。
