覚え方
ラテン語 videō（見る・理解する）にさかのぼる view は、**見るを表す weyd-* と同族である。目で対象をとらえることが、対象を理解することへつながり、さらに「見たもの・見えた景色」や「物事についての見方」を表すようになった。
そのため view は、動詞では「見る」、名詞では「景色・眺め」や「見解」を意味する。目に入ったものだけでなく、頭の中で対象をどう捉えるかという意味まで含むのがポイントである。
vid・vis を見たら「見る、そこから理解する」と覚えると、view、video、vision、provide などの意味を結び付けやすい。
