distrustの語源と覚え方
覚え方
dis-（〜でない）+ trust（信頼）。信頼しないこと、そしてその気持ち。動詞と名詞の両方で使う。
trust は *deru-（堅い）にさかのぼり、tree（木）・true（真の）・truth と同じ系統。堅い木のように揺るがないことが信頼の芯で、dis- がそれを裏返す。
mistrust とほぼ同じだが、distrust は理由があって信用しない場合に傾き、mistrust は漠然とした不安を表しやすい。
