覚え方
intro（内へ）＋duct（導く）。ラテン語 intrōdūcō は「中へ導き入れる」で、その名詞 intrōductiō が英語 introduction。まだ中にないものを内側へ導き入れること、が芯である。
そこから意味が三方向に出た。物や制度の「導入」（the introduction of new rules）、人と人を引き合わせる「紹介」（a letter of introduction＝紹介状）、本や論文の「序論」。どれも外にあったものを中へ導く一点でつながる。duct は conduct と同じで「導く」。
