覚え方
qualify は、quality（性質・特徴）+ -ify（〜にする・〜になる）という組み立てで、「ある性質や条件を備えたものにする」ことから「必要な基準を満たして資格を得る」になった。また、語句を条件付きで限定することから「修飾する」という意味も持つ。関連するフランス語 qualifier は「限定する・修飾する」を表す。
