覚え方
disintegrate（ばらばらに砕ける）+ -ion で「崩壊・分解」。disintegrate は dis-（ばらばらに）+ integrate（一つにまとめる） で、まとまりが解けていく過程を表す。
integrate の芯は n̥-（〜でない）+ teh₂g-（触れる） で、「まだ誰にも触られていない＝手つかずで欠けがない」が原義である。integer（整数）・entire（全体の）・intact（無傷の）・tangible（触れられる）と同族で、整った一体が崩れるのが disintegration** と読める。
補足: 物質だけでなく、社会・組織・帝国の「解体」にも使う。放射性物質が壊れていく現象も disintegration と呼ばれる。
